Motorola sets Signature 27 for Nov 5, still hides the price

Motorola locked a November 5 event for the Signature 27. Confirmed hardware includes Qualcomm's Extreme chip and a 200MP periscope. The US teaser still has no price.

Motorola has a November 5 event and a flagship it wants judged against the biggest names in the market. What it does not have, days before the event, is a price. A 200-megapixel periscope and a 2-nanometer Qualcomm chip are easy to announce. Winning share from Samsung and Apple needs a number buyers can compare.

On 29 October Motorola's own account posted the date. "See for yourself on November 5," the company wrote, calling the Signature 27 "elegantly crafted for comfort." Digital Trends reports the US teaser page is taking email registrations and still lists neither a price nor a purchase date. The worldwide launch plan does not fix when each market starts selling it.

What Motorola has actually locked in

The confirmed hardware is the expensive kind. The Signature 27 is the first phone Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 was announced with, The Verge noted in September, and it pairs a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 910 main camera with a 200-megapixel periscope. Motorola also confirmed ArcticMesh cooling with liquid metal and a vapor chamber it says is 40 percent larger than the previous generation, plus Audio by Bang & Olufsen. GSMArena records two colors: Pantone Coal Smoke and Pantone Capulet Olive.

Those are launch-day talking points, and they are the items that raise the bill of materials. Sony's Lytia 910 is the same LOFIC sensor The Verge flagged on Vivo's X500 Pro Max, where Vivo claimed 17 stops of dynamic range. Motorola has not published matching camera claims. Digital Trends' Paulo Vargas wrote that a high megapixel count will not settle the camera question until someone tests how much detail the zoom keeps, and whether the lenses match in poor light.

A Geekbench 7.1 listing GSMArena published on 31 October shows a Signature 27 on Android 17 with 12GB of RAM scoring 3,313 single-core and 11,088 multi-core. GSMArena's Sagar cautioned that retail units should run faster. That listing is a data point, not a review, and it still does not tell a buyer what the phone costs.

The share Motorola is trying to buy

The first Signature skipped the United States. The Verge's September write-up said this one will not. Motorola is also promising seven OS upgrades and up to seven years of security updates from global launch, a commitment Digital Trends says still needs a check against model and carrier. That matches the window Samsung gives the Galaxy S24 and later, so it levels the field rather than tilting it.

The design is the other bet. The Verge described an aluminum body that slopes into a "camera plane" with four lenses in an arch, in finishes Motorola named after Pantone colors rather than black and green. Dominic Preston wrote that the look "seems guaranteed to earn mixed reception."

The unanswered question is price. Motorola has named the chip, the periscope, the cooling and the update window, and left out the one figure that shows whether this is a challenger or a halo model. Digital Trends' advice is to wait for local pricing and a confirmed sales date before planning a purchase. November 5 is when Motorola either supplies both or does not.
