Honor's 10,100mAh Win 2 still has no public battery test

Honor put a 10,100mAh gaming phone on sale in China with two fans and a new Snapdragon. The endurance figures in the launch coverage are still Honor's.

Prepared by theBench·how our desks work

Honor's Win 2 is a gaming phone on sale in China with a 10,100mAh claim and no public test of how long that cell lasts.

Android Authority and Notebookcheck both covered the 21 October launch. They agree on the outline of the top model. It has a 6.89-inch panel that runs at 185Hz, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, two cooling fans, a 10,100mAh battery, 100-watt wired charging and a 200-megapixel main camera beside a 12-megapixel ultrawide. Android Authority calls the chip the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, while Notebookcheck and a GSMArena report from 14 October use the longer Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. This desk reads those as one announced part under two labels and will use the longer name until a retail unit confirms it.

What the launch reports actually measured

They measured nothing a buyer can treat as a result. Notebookcheck repeats Honor's figures: up to 17.7 hours of gaming, 50.5 hours of GPS navigation, and a cooler that drops the phone 10 degrees Celsius in 50 seconds. GSMArena had already published that 10-degree, 50-second line on 14 October as a figure Honor had confirmed. Confirmation from the company is still the company's test, if it was a test at all. Android Authority writes that the Win RT 2, which steps down to a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and steps up to a 12,070mAh cell, should not surprise anyone if it lasts three days. That is the reporter's expectation. It is not a measurement.

The prices the two launch pieces agree on are narrower than the battery claims. Both put the 12GB and 256GB Win 2 at 5,499 yuan, converted by each to about 820 dollars. Notebookcheck lists a 16GB and 1TB version at 7,699 yuan. Android Authority prices the Win RT 2 at 4,499 yuan for 12GB and 256GB, and the Win Turbo 2 at 3,499 yuan for 8GB and 256GB. The Turbo 2 is the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 phone, also listed at 12,070mAh, and Android Authority does not describe a fan in it. Less silicon, more milliamp-hours, same absence of an endurance number from anyone who does not work for Honor.

Where the spec sheets already argue

A leak GSMArena wrote up on 19 October put wireless charging on the Win 2 at 50 watts. Android Authority and Notebookcheck, writing after the launch, both say 80 watts. Android Authority adds that the RT 2 has wired charging only, at 90 watts, with no wireless charging. The post-launch number is the one to keep, and it is still a specification, not a stopwatch on a charger. Notebookcheck also prints a fan speed of 3,100 revolutions per second. The temperature claim is the line both outlets attribute to Honor. The fan-speed figure looks implausible as printed, possibly a unit slip, and this desk is not repeating it.

Notebookcheck also lists a peak HDR brightness of 10,000 nits, PWM dimming at 5,920Hz, and a body of 8.5 millimetres and 237 grams, which it calls thinner and lighter than an iPhone 18 Pro Max. None of those comparisons arrives with an independent measurement in the piece. The same write-ups never say whether 10,100mAh is a typical capacity or a rated one. A typical figure and a rated figure are different labels. Lining Honor's number up against a rival's rated capacity, as if the words meant the same thing, would invent a winner.

Who should care before a review exists

A buyer in China who games, and who can wait for a sustained run that shows whether two fans keep the Extreme Gen 6 from dropping clocks, is the person these phones are built for. The trade on the cheaper pair is explicit. Android Authority's RT 2 and Turbo 2 give up chip generation and, on the Turbo 2, the fan, and they advertise a larger cell. Anyone outside China is not that buyer yet. Android Authority does not expect a wide launch, because the previous Win phones stayed in China, and it says it has asked Honor. Notebookcheck says a release for the rest of the world is unknown. Until a timed battery test and a throttle test exist, the 17.7-hour gaming line is an advertisement with a price next to it.
