Vivo X Fold 6 Goes Global: Smaller Battery, European Price Pressure on Samsung

Vivo's X Fold 6 reached Europe on October 1 with a 6,900mAh battery in place of China's 7,000mAh. Reports of a roughly €2,200 price put it against Samsung's Fold 8 Ultra.

Can a Chinese foldable that costs about as much as Samsung's best take shelf space in Europe without a US launch behind it? Vivo is testing that with the X Fold 6, which went on sale internationally on October 1, just over three months after its China debut in June.

What changed between China and Europe

The headline trade is battery. Android Headlines lists the global model at 6,900mAh against 7,000mAh in China, with 80W wired and 40W wireless charging and a charger in the box. The phone uses MediaTek's Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, an 8.02-inch inner screen and a 6.51-inch cover display, both rated at 5,000 nits. The cameras are a 200MP main sensor, a 50MP 3x periscope and a 50MP ultrawide. Weight is 228g in black and 235g in blue.

The sources disagree on details a buyer would check. Android Headlines gives IPX5, IPX8 and IPX9 ratings, while 9to5Google reports IP58 and IP59. Both say Android 17 with OriginOS 7, but Android Authority's piece lists Android 16 with OriginOS 6, which looks like carry-over from an older spec sheet. Android Authority also gives the battery as 7,000mAh. Until Vivo's regional spec pages settle this, the 6,900mAh figure is the more specific one, and the ratings should be confirmed before purchase.

The price question

Vivo had not announced European prices at the time of Android Headlines' report. Android Authority expects €2,199 for the 12GB/512GB model, which it says matches Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra in some European markets. GSMArena's hands-on piece also expects roughly €2,200 and sets it beside the Honor Magic V6 at €1,650. All of these are expectations, not list prices.

That is where the incentive shows. Android Authority's comparison puts the Fold 6's 7,000mAh battery against the Z Fold 8 Ultra's 5,000mAh. Vivo is not selling the lowest price; it is selling a bigger cell and a larger camera sensor, which GSMArena puts at 1/1.4 inch, at Samsung's money. 9to5Google says no US release is expected, so Samsung's American base is untouched, while Europe and other markets are where share could move. Whether buyers will pay Samsung money for Vivo is a question none of the sources answer.

What reviewers found

The review evidence mostly comes from the China model, which is a caveat on the battery results. IBTimes Australia's roundup of those reviews called it "one of the most enduring foldables on the market," with 80W charging reaching 50% in 23 minutes and a full charge in 57. It reported more than 2,700 nits in HDR tests, and a crease that stays "both visible and noticeable to the touch."

The same roundup reported the phone "got very hot and crashed during all 3DMark stress tests," while also citing a 6-7% performance drop after 15 minutes of sustained load. Those two statements do not obviously agree, which suggests different reviewers and different units.

Techie Street's review video on the China unit, posted September 9, offers the everyday version. For a light user at five to six hours a day, the reviewer said two days on a charge is realistic. After a 12-hour travel day of photos, video and navigation, about 10% was left. That is one creator's use, not a lab test, and the global phone has a slightly smaller cell.

Where it fits

For a European buyer comparing foldables, the Vivo's case rests on endurance and cameras, with weight and the crease as the recurring drawbacks in the reviews. If the final price lands near the expected €2,199, it competes on features against the most expensive foldable Samsung sells. Against the Honor Magic V6, the expected gap is roughly €550, and buyers would have to value the extra camera and battery at that much. Official pricing and a European review of the global unit are the two missing pieces.
